Alpine, Texas 2019
For most of its life, the plant does not bloom. Once in its lifetime, the agave produces a tall stalk and flowers, depicted in this image. This stage also signifies the end of the plants life. The bloom produces thousands of seeds which root in the earth to start a new cycle. Native Americans use the Agave as a source for food, medicine and soap. In modern times, Agave is the essence of the sacred elixir Mescal.
