Growing up in Austin Texas, I was drawn to the natural world and its unfolding quality, a flower revealing itself over time, a universe inside a drop of water. I used to lay on the ground peering at the night's constellation wondering what lied beyond. Later in life, my attention to turned to other cultures and their expanded ways of perceiving the world. After receiving a BA in Anthropology from the University of Texas, I participated in Mayan archaeological projects in Central America. And continued to wander about interacting with enchanting people and land. Shortly after moving to New York City in the late 90's, I began working with the National Geographic Society to help fund its publishing and conservation initiatives. The mission of preserving cultures and the natural world always inspired me. All the while, I continued to explore and capture photos with a particular focus on darkness and light. I traveled to the amazon, photographing the rio negro, to india, to mexico. My studio became a canvas of various compositions, arrangments of light falling from the ceiling, a tree cathedral of texas oak, a portal of light. Each reflecting a place and feeling. Currently, I am exploring inner visions of the feminine form and energetic patterns moving through the body. I call New York my home, and exhibit at various galleries and international venues.
